ABSTRACT
The purpose of this research work is to assess job opportunities open for business education graduates in enterprises/public services in Revers State Area. A total number of 100 questionnaires were distributed randomly to the people in the areas. Interview was conducted. Collection of data from the responds was done. The result showed that business educators’ graduates are easily employed because, they have a lots of job opportunities available to them in the labour market. Recommendation were made that business educators’ graduates are quick better then graduates of other field for they are easily employed. So students should be encouraged to choose the programme, while government should put in their best to ensure there is enough equipment for the programme to go smoothly.
CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
1.0 BACKGROND OF THE STUDY
Vocational and technical education or Business education as it is technically known, according to our national policy on education (2000) Lagos NEPC) is a programme of study which provide its students or recipients with the necessary skills, competencies, abilities and the general knowledge about business or work, according to Amawwhule (2002), business education programme in a capitalist economy such as Nigeria provides its student with the necessary foundation needed for the development of a vibrant and self-sustaining economy through multifarious scale established in the world.
The introduction of vocational and technically education as a panacea to solving the country’s problem of unemployment and job dissatisfaction amongst career employee has been met with mixed reactions since its inception in 1930. Exponents of the programme school education, school of thought some business education as tagged “commercial education” that is for the never do well.
Student hence, the recommend business education for only those who could not perform in their regular grammar school classes and such students to register with the “commercial school” as the nomenclature was. But scholars of the vocational school of thoughts have been able to provide the significance of business education in transforming the developing economics such as Nigeria. Hence Nassassy (2002) said “business education is that aspect of the total education programme that provides knowledge/skills understanding and attitude needed to perform in the business world as a producer and or consumer of goods and services that business offer yet it is that part of the field of education both for specialized occupational was and for the generation uses. This shows the role of business education in a developing economy such as Nigeria.
The study of business educational its various levels of education provides its recipient with difference career opportunities in the public and private enterprise of the economy. At accountancy, secretary, marketing, business management.
These offers the business education graduates such job opportunities to function as accountants, secretaries, public administrators, office managers, confidential secretaries, marketing managers, purchasing managers, personal assistants, professional teachers, lecturers and full time business tycoons, according to E.C Oshala in foundation of vocational education (2004) published in University Nsukka with the population increase in the country and the number for students who graduate from different levels of education who seek for employment in the public and private sectos of the economy put a 57.599 student according to Ahiakwo (2004) it became necessary that job opportunities available to business education be regularly assessed in order to appreciate its prosper in the labour market. Hence Amen (2005) in his study on one human resources stated that: “it is important to know the employment prospect that is available to graduates of business education and the extent to which training and prepared the graduates for life in the world of work.
More so as he stated in the same study that we have a changing world, and the rate of change is perhaps the most important single challenges of our time.
How can the individual especially at work, scope with or benefit from the accelerated process of changes that is evident all around them. Emphasizing on the need of such study. Mills (2003) in his study of teaching and training said “it is essential available for education system to have knowledge of the employment prospect and job opportunities available to its graduates.
Therefore, in this study attentions, will be made at assessing job opportunities still open to business education graduates in line with current trends in the labour market.
1.1 STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
This study focuses on job opportunities open to business education graduates in government establishment’s enterprise in Bayelsa State. It would be disappointing for business education graduates pre-occupying themselves in job position in the office or offices without satisfying their employers with the training requirement they undergo during their school programme. Secondly, if there is not interest in the training, they cannot have the abilities to satisfy their employers unable to apply facilities given to them at the training will make them unfit for the job base on these points, it is necessary to assess their satisfaction in the society.
1.2 OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
Objective of the study is to investigate into job opportunities still to business education graduate in the enterprise in Bayelsa State Area.
1. To evaluate how satisfied with their jobs business education graduates are in enterprise in Bayelsa State.
2. To appreciate the relation available to the business education graduates in all the enterprise in the state government area. But due to time and financial constraints, the study is limited to selected public enterprise and government establishment in the area.
1.3 PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
The study becomes pertinent because of the psychological stress which most student feel the programmes is educationally designed so they would end up as classroom teachers. Therefore, it become imperative for this study to be carried out, and to ascertain the position of business amongst employers and employees in the enterprises. The finding of the study will provide a guide for prospective business education graduate during and after the University education.
The study will also attempt to reduce the uncertainties which readily come to mind of every graduate student and providing him/her information with job opportunities that he/she can perform to every his/her fears.

1. What opportunities that is needed in the various enterprises/public services available to business education graduates?
2. What specific job do business education graduates perform in the enterprise/offices where they found themselves?
3. How does the training programme prepare the graduates for jobs available in the labour market?
4. What are the factors affecting them to get job easy?
1.5 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The importance of assessing job opportunities open for business education graduates in accounting/government establishment is to boost of the psychological make-up of recipient of the programme, at a time when business education is becoming synonymous with classroom teaching for those in the territory level and unskilled manpower for those in the secondary level of education. Therefore, knowledge of job open to students in this programme will enable them appreciate the skills and competencies required of them in the labour market. So putting more effort in practicing those skills needed for easy employment.
This study is also a medium of creating much awareness to business education graduates to appreciate the capabilities, skills and competencies. If the graduate in filling employment opportunities available in the society.
1.6 THE SCOPE OF THE STUDY
This study attempts to appreciate the opportunities of the business education graduates, in selected area of Bayelsa State. Therefore, all findings in the study concerning job opportunities available to business education graduate are limited to Bayelsa state area.
1.7 LIMITATION OF THE STUDY
The study was intended to zero on job opportunities available to the business education graduates in all the enterprises and government establishment in the state. But due to time and financial constraints, the study was limited to selected public enterprises in the Bayelsa state.
1.8 DEFINITION OF OPERATIONAL TERMS
Business education: It is a programme of study which provides its recipients with skills, competencies with abilities that enable them entry into business or knowledge about business.
These are enterprises taken over by the government from the private sector or directly established by government’s law to provide goods and services to the public.
Enterprise: it could be defined as private own firms or the acceptance of risks of production by a individual which arise through business.
Labour market: The segment of the society, which provides job opportunities to appliances in consideration of the skills, competencies and abilities an individual possesses.
Graduates: These are student who are successfully awarded certificates on the conclusion of their programmes of the study in the tertiary levels of education.
CHAPTER FOUR
In order to ensure easy interpretation and understanding of the data, table was used to analyze the responses.

Base on the table above, it can be seen that there are different areas business educator graduates can be engaged in job opportunities.
Teaching related opportunities areas attracted 17.2. According took as much as 20.8, stenography or secretary got 24.1% whereas Marketing got 20.8%, and administrator/manager commanded 17.2%. This implies that there are job opportunities development in the different areas of specialization emphasized in business education programme.
